Traditionally on Nantucket, when a girl graduates from high school and/or from college, she is presented with a Nantucket pocketbook. In addition to seeing many old as well as new Nantucket pocketbooks on the arms and shoulders of Nantucket natives, a visitor to the island may also see round open Nantucket baskets lined with a silk scarf which also serve as purses.

An oak handle with ivory overlay and an ivory latch are featured on this classic 7 1/2" Cocktail Purse. The lid and base are of ebony with cane ribs and weavers.

A standard Cocktail Purse with a cherry base and handle, leather wrapped hinges and latch, and ivory knobs and peg is available also.
