In January of 1856, a newly built lightship with two beacons was anchored off the Nantucket shoals. The "Nantucket New South Shoal Lightship #1" was the lightship which gave its name to the Nantucket basket tradition -- not the makers or uses. This lightship was retired in 1892..

This 8” dinner napkin basket was designed in 1998. Woven of cane, it features a cherry base and ivory accent piece.

A smaller 6” cocktail napkin basket is also available.
